Patchwork and Quilting
Patchwork and Quilting
Patchwork was originally worked by resourceful women who needed to make warm bed covers. These were made from any old or worn out clothing and scraps of fabric pieced together. Quilting was the process of layering three layers of fabric i.e. the top cover (patchwork) the inner (batting) and the backing fabric. These were than stitched together to hold all three layers in place.
